This Adult (age 18 and older) workshop is designed for beginners, and is intended for people who have never hunted or folks that need a refresher and wish to get back into upland game bird hunting.
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is pleased to invite you on this upland game bird, pheasant hunting adventure. Come and enjoy a half-day session on shotgun skills training and an afternoon pheasant hunt. The half-day of shotgun skills training includes a classroom portion on firearm safety and handling and some time spent with a coach shooting clay targets to improve your shotgun shooting skills.
Following the range practice you will divide up into smaller groups and head out to hunting areas where you’ll be paired up with a trained dog and handler/guide.
Your registration fee includes lunch and all equipment will be provided. We’ll have 20 gauge shotguns for your use and will provide shells for the shotguns we lend to you. We’ll also have hearing protection, hunter’s orange vests and eye protection available for those who need it.
If you bring your own shotgun please provide the appropriate shells for your own gun. Only shotgun shells using non-lead shot will be allowed. Please be sure to read the stamp on your shotgun’s barrel to see what specific ammunition is required for it.
